Home/Practices

Four practices where we lead.

Our services work in any sector. In these four areas our people bring long field experience, technical depth and networks that clients cannot easily find elsewhere.

Agrifood

Agrifood and market systems

For agribusinesses, exporters, cooperatives, government and development partners.

Agriculture employs most working Ugandans, and coffee is the country's largest farm export. Buyers, lenders and regulators now want proof of where produce comes from and how it was grown. We help producers and programmes provide it.

  • Value-chain, market-systems and seed-systems analysis
  • EU deforestation compliance: farmer registration, plot mapping and supply-chain records
  • Climate-smart agriculture design, monitoring and evaluation
  • Feasibility studies and business plans for agribusinesses seeking finance
  • Farmer organisation and cooperative strengthening
Brief: what EU deforestation rules will ask for

Nature

Nature and biodiversity

For developers, lenders, environmental assessment teams and conservation funders.

Infrastructure, energy and extractive projects must now show how they will avoid, reduce and offset harm to nature. Conservation funders want measurable results. We provide the field data and analysis for both.

  • Biodiversity baselines, rapid assessments and BioBlitz surveys
  • Species population surveys and long-term monitoring
  • Wetland, catchment and landscape assessments
  • Biodiversity monitoring for infrastructure and energy projects
  • Nature-risk screening for companies and investors
  • Community conservation and nature-based livelihood programmes

Climate

Climate and energy transition

For districts, ministries, energy companies and carbon project developers.

Climate finance and energy access are growing fast, led by efforts such as the World Bank and African Development Bank's Mission 300 to connect 300 million Africans to electricity by 2030. Funders need sound plans, and carbon buyers need proof that communities agreed and benefit.

  • Climate risk and vulnerability assessments and adaptation plans
  • Climate-fund project preparation and feasibility
  • Community consent and benefit-sharing for carbon projects
  • Clean cooking, solar and mini-grid market studies
  • Monitoring, reporting and verification of climate results

Youth

Youth, skills and jobs

For foundations, development partners, training institutions and government.

Uganda has one of the youngest populations in the world, and large programmes now aim to get young people into decent work. They need to know which approaches create jobs that last.

  • Labour-market and skills-gap studies
  • Graduate and trainee tracer studies
  • Design and evaluation of youth employment and enterprise programmes
  • Vocational training assessments, curricula and instructor training
  • Enterprise support with incubators and accelerators

Specialist sectors

The same standards, in every sector we serve.

Each sector is led by a senior specialist working within Tsavone's methods and quality controls.
